Review by: Mark Pearsall, New England Classical Journal - September 26, 2005
Ciraolo’s text is extremely thorough. It has a solid introduction, extensive notes, and running commentary on grammatical forms and stylistic devices. For a student new to the study of Cicero and unfamiliar with the history of Marcus Caelius Rufus, this is a complete work that has all the necessary information, without being overwhelming.
Cicero's defense of Caelius stands out as one of his greatest orations, now accessible to students with running commentary and vocabulary.
