James M. Cobban
Biography:
James M. Cobban (1910-1999) was headmaster of Abingdon School from 1947 to 1970, during which time he brought the school from obscurity to a well-known school throughout England. He received a degree in classics from Cambridge University. Cobban authored
Pax et Imperium (Methuen, 1938) and
Senate & Provinces, 78-49 BC (Cambridge University Press, 1935) and coauthored with Ronald Colebourn
