David J. Califf, PhD

Biography: David J. Califf teaches Latin and English literature at The Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and classical mythology in art, literature, and music at Villanova University. Califf received a BA from Rutgers University and an MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a hobby, Califf enjoys giving museum tours and has guided school groups at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the University of Pennsylvania Museum, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts-Boston. A published Latin poet, Califf is coauthor with Henry V. Bender of Poet and Artist: Imaging the Aeneid (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2004) and is the author of A Guide to Latin Meter and Verse Composition (Wimbleton, 2002), Marathon (Chelsea House, 2002), The Battle of Actium (Chelsea House, 2003), and articles on classical poetry and ancient Greek literary criticism.
