John Breuker

Biography: John Breuker retired after teaching for forty-five years at the secondary and college/university levels. He spent the bulk of his career at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. A recipient of several awards and honors, Breuker has presented numerous papers on pedagogical and Vergilian topics at state, regional, and national professional meetings. In retirement he is teaching part-time, and remains passionate about making the classics live for young people. He is the author of Study Notes for Vergil's Aeneid (The Campanian Society, 2000) and "The Public and Private Aeneas: Observations on Complex Responsibility," in W. Anderson and L. Quartarone, eds., Approaches to Teaching Vergil's Aeneid (Modern Language Association of America, 2002) and coauthor with Mardah Weinfeld of A Little Book of Latin Love Poetry: A Transitional Reader for Catullus, Horace, and Ovid (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2006).
