Jacob Stern, PhD

Biography: Jacob Stern is a professor of classics and comparative literature at the CUNY Graduate Center. Stern received a B.A. in literature and an MA and PhD in Greek and Latin from Columbia University. During his post-graduate work, he received the following fellowships from Columbia University: Woodrow Wilson, F.J.E. Woodbridge, and Drisler. His articles on classical topics have been widely published in both American and European professional journals including the American Journal of Philology, Classical Philology, Greek, Roman and Byzantine Studies and Classical World. He is the author of Erotika Pathemata: The Love Stories of Parthenius (Garland Pub., 1992) and On Unbelievable Tales: Palaephatus: Peri Apiston (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1996) and coeditor with W. M. Calder III of Pindaros und Bakchylides (Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft, 1970).
