James Marshall Campbell, PhD

Biography: James Marshall Campbell (born 1895) received a BA from Hamilton College. Campbell began studies at the Princeton Graduate School in 1917; his studies there were interrupted by World War I. He received an MA in 1920 and a PhD in 1922 from the Catholic University of America. Campbell spent his career working on the early Christian authors. He coauthored with Martin R. P. McGuire The Confessions of St. Augustine: Books I-IX (Prentice-Hall, 1931; reprinted by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 1984, 2007).
