Richard A. LaFleur, PhD

Biography: Richard A. LaFleur is the Franklin Professor of Classics Emeritus at the University of Georgia, Athens. He received a BA and MA from the University of Virginia and a PhD in classical studies from Duke University. He is the author of many Latin text and pedagogy books as well as numerous articles on Latin language, literature, pedagogy, and teacher-training. LaFleur has received numerous honors and awards, including the APA Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Classics in 1984, the designation of Honorary ACL President for Life in 1987, the ACL Meritus Award in 2007, and the ACTFL Anthony J. Papalia Award for Excellence in Teacher Education in 2013. He is the revision author of Wheelock's Latin, 7th Edition (HarperCollins, 2011) and is the author of Scribblers, Sculptors, and Scribes (HarperCollins, 2010). LaFleur is coauthor with Brad Tillery of Ovid Vocabulary Cards for APĀ® Selections (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2007), Wheelock's Latin GrammarQuick! (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2007), Cumulative Chapter Vocabulary Lists for Wheelock's Latin, 2nd Edition (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2011), and Vocabulary Cards and Grammatical Forms Summary for Wheelock's Latin, 2nd Edition (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2011); he is also the producer of Readings from Wheelock's Latin, read and performed by Mark Robert Miner (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2006).
