Author Bio

Howard W. Clarke is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He earned his BA from Holy Cross College and his PhD from Harvard University. He has taught at a number of schools, including Boston University, Oakland University, and University of California, Santa Barbara. His other works include The Gospel of Matthew and Its Readers: A Historical Introduction to the First Gospel (Indiana University Press) and Homer's Readers: A Historical Introduction to the Iliad and the Odyssey (University of Delaware Press).
