Demo Disk Support

Common Problem:
In step 4 of the installation instructions included with the demo disk, a common problem has been with the line that is entered under Run. Make sure to put spaces after a:\artlat\artlat.exe and the first a:\artlat.

The line should read: a:\artlat\artlat.exe a:\artlat a:\artlat

The 2 addtional artlat's allow the program to read off the floppy disk instead of the CDROM drive where the program originally came from.

Experiencing Problems?

If you are unable to run the program off of the disk through the Start button, try this: Open My Computer, double click on your floppy drive, open the folder called Artlat, then double click on the file in this main folder called Artlat.exe. This should run the program.

Artes Latinae FAQ

Q: What should I do if the sound is unclear?

A: If your sound is unclear, you will need to check your sound card documentation for correct configuration under windows.

Q: What should I do if I have problems installing the program?

A: If you have problems installing the software, be certain your CD-ROM drive is functioning properly. If it is, make sure that it has been cleaned within the last three months. Dust and other contaminants may cause the CD-ROM to misreport and read data incorrectly, and can cause damage to the CD-ROM drive.

Q: I completed the install program successfully, but the program will not run. What is wrong?

A: Microsoft recommends that you quit all programs before installing new software. This includes TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) programs such as anti-virus programs. Try closing all your applications, then reinstall the Artes Latinae software. This should correct the problem.

Q: What should I do if I have problems running the program?

A: If the program doesn't run properly, it may be due to your operating system. Under the Windows 95 operating system, bugs have been reported by Microsoft that have caused problems with third-party software such as Artes Latinae. Please visit the Windows 95 support page for further documentation on this problem.

Q: I can run the program, but it seems to run slowly or stall. How do I fix that?

A: Windows 3.x and Windows 95 operating systems use two methods of multi-tasking (running multiple programs at the same time) for different software. 16 bit programs, such as Artes Latinae, use the same memory address to run at the same time. Try closing any other programs you have open. This should fix the problem.
